Questions...

I've enjoyed talking with several of you over this past week or so, hearing you describe your professional practice, begin to delve into your field of inquiry, develop your research through engaging with the experiences of others.

Something of a theme of these one-to-one conversations has been the importance of questions.

Questioning your own learning, recognising patterns and allowing shifts to occur through your learning. Questions that you pose to others in order to open a door for them to share their experiences with you. Your research question(s).

We've talked about not posing a question to 'get' an answer, unpacking the assumptions you may find in the questions you pose, letting the questions emerge from your reading and reflections on your experiences, the experience of your research.

What are your thoughts on the questions around you this week?

  1. It Helen,

It was really great to chat with you last week. I felt like I have more clarity and a clearer path moving forwards through module two.

After speaking to you and talking about doing a mind map of my role models and why they are my role models, this has opened up many questions. What do I look for in a role model? Why are these people my role models? What have I learned from them?

Also as I am working through reader 5 on ethics this has opened up many other questions. I have found some of the case studies in reader 5 particularly interesting. This has made me question the ethics that apply in my workplace and i have been chatting in my SIG with Kirsty, Jessica Stokes and Alicia who in module two as well, as we are all in the teaching area of work.
We spoke about how telling lies to a child (telling them santa is watching the class to encourage good behaviour) although lying is unethical, in situations like this it would be acceptable. It has definitely made me think about what I say when I teach and if i ever do anything that could be considered unethical.
    Emily.
